Louise Milligan is an award winning investigative reporter for the ABC TV Four Corners program and the author of Witness and Cardinal, The Rise and Fall of George Pell. Her investigation into the allegations against Cardinal George Pell won her two Quill Awards from the Melbourne Press Club, including the Gold Quill for best story of the year, the highest honour in Victorian journalism, and the Australian Press Council Press Freedom Medal. Her book Cardinal, The Rise and Fall of George Pell also won the Walkley Book Award.
Her 2020 book, Witness, which examines the power imbalance of the legal system and documented her experiences as a witness in the committal proceeding of Cardinal George Pell, won the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards People’s Choice prize and the Davitt Award for best non-fiction crime book in 2021. It was also shortlisted for the Stella Prize.
Louise’s investigations into allegations of misconduct against politicians, including former Attorney-General Christian Porter, resulted in her Four Corners stories Inside the Canberra Bubble and Bursting the Canberra Bubble.
Louise’s impressive journalism career also includes covering the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse, producing her Four Corners report about Saxon Mullins, I am that Girl, which led to widespread reforms of NSW consent laws, and reporting on the executions of Bali 9 members Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.
